A lifelong horror kid

My love for horror started young, staying up late with my grandpa watching Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Child's Play. Then my uncle brought home Resident Evil, and those zombie dogs came crashing through the hallway window. That was my very first gaming jumpscare, and I've been chasing that feeling ever since.

These days I'm the one screaming for your entertainment. I'm a bit jumpy, so if you're here for spooky games and genuine, undignified reactions to jump scares, you're going to have a good time.

Spicy Wholesome

We keep things Spicy Wholesome: fired up and having fun, but supportive and welcoming for everyone. I care a lot more about hanging out with chat than I do about being "good" at the game, so expect me to be talking to you while I run face-first into whatever's about to kill me.

Beyond the scary stuff, we're a chill, laid-back bunch. We've got our fair share of running community jokes and good-natured jabs as we all get to know each other, but never anything demeaning, and never pushing things to a place where someone feels picked on or uncomfortable. The teasing is the kind you do with friends, because that's what this is.

Strictly anti-toxic

This is a strictly anti-toxic community, and that's not a slogan. It's the whole point. We're building a space where people can escape the negativity and the day-to-day grind and just enjoy the good stuff together: gaming, anime, cosplay, and all-around nerd culture.

What's grown out of that is genuinely special: a community that actually supports and builds up one another. A lot of us are navigating our own struggles, and this is the place we get to set those down for a few hours and have fun.

Meet the Mods

None of this works without the people who keep the place running. My mod team does the quiet work that makes a chill, welcoming community actually stay that way, and they're a huge part of the fun too. Here's the crew.

The NR Crew

You've probably seen folks around the community and streams with NR in their names, and wondered what it means. NR stands for No Remorse, and it goes way back. I started it as a teenager playing SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs on the PS2, and it's stuck with me ever since. We're not the hardcore squad we used to be these days, so now it's more of a homage to where it all started. You'll still catch it in Final Fantasy XIV, in Doomsday, all over our Discord, and it's baked right into my name too.

Somewhere along the way it turned into more than an old clan tag. It became a way for people who've really made this place their home to show it. Some of the crew wear the NR proudly across Twitch, Discord, and everywhere else.

If the community's become a home for you, you're welcome to wear it too. It's not a rank and it's not something you earn, it's just a way to rep the crew. All we ask is that you carry it the way we all try to: positive, supportive, and anti-toxic. Wear it well.

Living with disability, openly

People ask me a lot what happened, so here's the short version. Over the years I've had a series of head injuries, starting as a toddler faceplanting into a headboard, on through various work injuries and sports concussions. The big turn came in early 2020: a skiing accident where I wiped out avoiding a little kid and hit my head on the ice, followed a few months later by a fall down a flight of stairs that caused a major concussion.

That one brought amnesia, post-concussion syndrome, and a long road back: relearning my job as an aerospace quality assurance tech, being reintroduced to friends I no longer recognized, and time on short-term disability. Later, an industrial door came down on me at a factory job and brought a lot of those symptoms roaring back. On top of that, I deal with nerve issues that limit function in my arms and hands, and a work injury that ultimately took me out of the typical working world.

Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy is a constant state I've learned to live with and adjust around, and my medical team has worked closely with me to monitor and treat the condition. After years of fighting for treatment, and a real sense of hopelessness, I made a choice. Stop letting it hold me back and go build my own path, through streaming, writing, and the goals that are actually mine.

I'm open about all of this for two reasons. First, it shows up live. So if I'm stuttering, losing a word, or struggling through a game or a conversation, now you know why, and you don't have to wonder. Second, if you're dealing with something similar, I want you to see that it's not hopeless. We can still chase our goals. I just don't let it become the focus. The stream is where we get to step away from the IRL stuff and enjoy the games, the anime, and the nerdy tangents together.

Family, and what the struggle gave back

Here's the thing I've made peace with. Getting injured, losing the corporate career, all those appeals and fights, I've come to see it as an unintended blessing. Being out of the factory gave me something I never would've had otherwise: time with the people and pups who matter most.

I'm very close with my mom (you might know her as ValMom), and family is everything to me. Being home meant I could help take care of my grandparents as they age. I take my grandpa to dialysis, get him and my grandma to their appointments, and actually get to spend time with them. None of that happens if I'm still stuck on the factory floor.

It also gave me the last few years with my dogs and their end-of-life care, and they've always been as much a part of this stream as I am, wandering into frame to beg for treats and attention like they owned the place.

My old man pupper, who made it to just shy of 12. A world-class treat-sneaker who never turned down a chance to get some love on stream. Passed of old age, August 2025.

Ripley Roo

Great Dane · 2015–2026

All energy and affection, right to the end. We lost her to bone cancer this past June, six months shy of 11. Getting to care for her through it was a gift I don't take for granted.

Sir Walter

Great Dane · Since 2026

I wasn't looking for another dog. But when this guy needed rehoming, I couldn't say no, and it turned out he needed rescuing from an abusive situation. We're working through his trauma together, and he's a permanent, deeply loved member of the family now.
